"...or that your pH down is hard at work...
pH 8 -8.2 is a great pH for fish-less cycling...should've just left it alone instead of doing the 'Elvis roller coaster'...
So what exactly is in that bottle of pH UP...since there not all…"
See you got a firm grasp on the chelate dosing!. I've used seaweed extract as a regular supplement in my AP for the past 3 years. I've done other systems without adding the extract and have noticed a big difference in plant…"
"Decreasing PH is a sign that you bacteria are hard at work. If you look on your PH UP bottle it will tell you the raw ingredients that are at work. Potassium bicarbonate may be one of the things on the ingredients and you can buy that on ebay or a…"
"Welcome aboard Bayy Quest!
Stephanie has good advice there.
Most of us are using cinders instead of gravel in our grow beds. It is lighter, so it's cheaper per volume and has lots of places for bacteria to grow. Be sure to…"

I have not stocked the tank with fish yet because I am in the filter build side now. I am trying to figure out if I need both a bio and a swirl filter or just one. I plan to fill the grow beds with crushed granite as my medium for the mineral contents and it being able to hold larger plants up right. I would love any ideas or info you folks would…See More
