I 've only had my fish for about a week. I bought 6 (4-8 inch) tilapia. They hide at the back of the tank any time they see me. They are eating but they only eat when I leave the room. I am wondering…Continue

Transplant from AP to Soil

Quick question. Does anyone have experience transplanting your AP plants to an outdoor soil garden? I have a bunch of tomatoes that are getting way too big for my system and I have decided I would rather grow more lettuces and such anyway (things that don't flower) in the aquaponics. My question is...can you just pull out the tomatoes and put them in soil outdoors? Will the plants deal with the change? Is there anything I can do to help their chances of survival? It is almost mothers day so…See More

Heaters went out...cold water...now what?

I have 6 large (6 to 10 inch) blue and white tilapia. The 2 crappy aquarium heaters both went out at the same time after only a month!!! I didn't notice right away...no more than a few days pasted but the temperature is now at 62 F. I ran out to Walmart to get another crappy heater (because it is only thing open at 9pm), just to start bringing it up slowly. The question is...how fast is safe to bring up the temp....a couple of degrees a day sound ok? Faster or slower. I read on the forums that…See More
