Thank you ....It is actually one of my own designs that I've been making and using for years. It technically is not a "barrelponic" system because that name is used by Travis Hugley for his systems, but mine are…"
"Just dropping in to say Hi to everyone in the California group. I've been doing aquaponics now for 3 years or so here in the hot So. Cal. valley.
It's really great to know there are others in Cal.
Check out my little double barrel systems…"
Had the great pleasure of meeting a fellow CA Aquapon, Andy from Santa Barbara. Got me to thinking we shouldn't be left out. There is a Florida and Colorado group so there has to be one from CA. Besides we can share links, ideas and suppliersSee More
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KPQ3ulpgWMJust thought some of you guys might like to see an update and a new finished system. Several years back I began to develop and use Aquaponic systems to grow fish and vegetables for my family. My interest came from wanting my family to eat a little better, and to find some alternative ways to help people in third world countries where resources are scarce or it is dangerous to travel to fish or be…See More
"This is exactly the plumbing setup I came up with and began using quite a few years ago. It works great especially for small multi-bed barrel units. The "secret" is connecting the grow beds with a common drain and only one…"
"Sadly I don't think I have any pics of that high of resolution. They all look like the ones I posted below I think. I would love to start an "Aquaponics Using Barrels" group, but I fear that I am already quite overextended as it…"
Again, great to have you here Perry. Only about one in 20 - 25 people who join here have any experience at all, and it is even more rare that they have experience as extensive as yours! Would you consider starting an Aquaponics Using Barrels group in here? It is just a mini-community where members can focus on, and ask questions about, your particular style of building systems. Travis is also a member, but he has not been active.
I'm also in the final week of gathering photos for my book called Aquaponic Gardening that is being published by New Society and is coming out next fall. Do you have any high resolution (300 ppi) images of your systems that you would be willing to let me use? Thanks, Perry!
Thanks for joining the Aquaponic Gardening community! I hope you find it a fun place to explore aquaponics. There is a real blend of experienced and new aquapons in this community, so please don’t hesitate to join in. Always thrilled to have experienced growers join us – please post some photos of your system!
A great place to start is to read the “How to Use This Site” link on the upper right corner, “Start Here” section of the Main page.
Please participate and check in with us every day! We are constantly posting news about aquaponics and the good food movement.
Thanks again for joining us, and I look forward to getting to know you.
